Sustainability
As a family business, sustainability is an important theme for Van der Valk Hotel Volendam. This way, future generations can also pass on our hospitable nature. In the Waterland region, where the hotel is located, this is even more important. The beautiful, green, and watery environment must, of course, be preserved so that our hotel guests can fully enjoy everything the region has to offer.
BREEAM Excellent

During the renovation, efforts were and are being made to achieve the BREEAM Excellent certificate for sustainability. This involves conscious construction with certified wood, green climate systems, solar panels, a biodiverse garden with an insect hotel, and much more.
Green Stays
Overnight stay
During a longer stay, hotel guests can use Green Stays: if a hotel guest skips a room cleaning, we plant a tree. Together with other Van der Valk hotels, this results in thousands of trees being planted annually in North Macedonia in the Sar Mountain National Park.
Charging stations for electric cars
Parking
For electric cars, there are 18 special parking spots with 9 AC chargers. Guests can easily charge electrically here when they come to meet, dine, or stay overnight. The chargers have a total power of 22 kW. If 2 cars are charging simultaneously, 11 kW is available.

Sustainability
Although Hotel Volendam is built and operates as sustainably as possible, there remains a bit of CO2 emissions. We offset most or all of this with projects, such as the Yuntdağ wind farm in Turkey.
Daily activities

We also do our best daily to be as environmentally conscious as possible. For example, ecological cleaning agents are used and waste is separated. Guests can also indicate if they want to reuse their towels.
Social activities
Region
In addition to green initiatives, social initiatives are also important for the region. Therefore, we organize a Christmas dinner for the elderly annually with the National Elderly Fund and there is a sporting collaboration with FC Volendam.
